The distribution of prize money in Formula 1 will change in 2026.
Liberty Media, which owns F1, is currently discussing with the teams the terms of a new Consent Agreement, which will come into force in 2026.
According to Autosport, Ferrari will retain historical payments, but they will be limited.
Today, teams receive 50 percent of F1 profits, up to a certain amount. It is assumed that at the current level of profits, which last year exceeded three billion dollars, the teams get a 45 percent share.
At the same time, Ferrari - the only team to have competed in every F1 season - is paid a historic bonus, which amounts to at least five percent of the total prize fund. If the prize money exceeds $1. 1 billion, the historical payout increases. The maximum share of the Scuderia is ten percent - for a total fund of 1. 6 billion or more.
The publication`s sources report that from 2026, Ferrari`s bonus will be limited to five percent, regardless of the amount distributed between the teams.
