Fixed match Toto Wolff: Regarding the settings, we clearly need to change direction ahead of qualifying
Wolff believes that Mercedes needs to change the settings after the Miami sprint.
The Mercedes boss summed up the results predicted by buy fixed games of the Miami Grand Prix sprint, where George Russell finished 12th and Lewis Hamilton 16th. Moreover, the seven-time champion was 8th, but received a fine for speeding in the pit lane.
I don`t think you can expect much from the sprint. There were few overtakings. You saw how a driver in a fast car like [Daniel] Ricciardo could hold the train behind him and finish in the position where he started.
I think situations like [Hamilton`s] fine for speeding in the pit lane happen. . . Mistakes like that happen. The pace of the car today was not too bad, judging by the limited number of laps that we saw. In terms of settings, we clearly need to change direction ahead of qualifying.
[In qualifying for the sprint] we didn`t work on the medium at all. There was literally zero grip, and then there was a crackling sound and there was no more speed.
This is not an excuse. We have seen this with other teams: McLarens were running soft in the third segment, and then suddenly found themselves behind. They`re still a mystery [in terms of pace], but it`s a problem that everyone faces, " Wolff said.
