Elena Rybakina criticized the scandal surrounding Stefano Vukova. Previously, The Athletic reported that he was not given accreditation to WTA tournaments and Grand Slams.
- Can you tell us about the situation with Stefano? What is his role in the team? And what have you been told about his future job opportunities?
- I don`t want to talk much about the future. Like I said before, I don`t agree with a lot of things. . . that the WTA are doing regarding my relationship with Stefano. I never complained about it. I always said that he never treated me badly. That`s it. Now I don`t want to talk about it anymore. I want to concentrate on the matches on our site.
- Do you understand why coaches comment on your situation and why they are concerned about it?
- I know that one of the coaches is Pam Shriver. I don`t know her personally, she never came up to me or spoke to me. I know her story, it`s sad, but that doesn`t mean other players face the same problems. She doesn`t know me and I don`t know her. I don`t think it`s fair to make such comments. Especially when you are an active coach, commentator, journalist, and so on.
- Will it be difficult for you to do this without one of the trainers nearby?
- Of course, this is not an ideal situation. I`m not happy about what`s happening. Especially when some coaches keep making comments. And people who are not so close to the tennis world see them, pick them up and make an even bigger show out of everything. This is unfair. And my goal with our site is to focus on the matches. This is what I`ll do.
- What will Stefano`s role be in this tournament?
- I won`t talk more about this because there is no clarity on the situation from the WTA.
