The NHL and the NHL Players Association are preparing to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement. The current agreement between the league and the hockey players` union runs until September 2026.
The parties plan to begin discussions on a new collective agreement in February 2025.
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said he hopes to negotiate a new agreement in 2025-and possibly before the Stanley Cup Final.
Bettman said issues such as a new calendar format and extending the salary cap through the playoffs could be part of the negotiations if those topics are of interest to each side.
